Plant Connection is extremely proud to announce that their patented G-O2® Living Wall System was revealed at the opening of the World Trade Center’s Liberty Park on June 29, 2016.

The multihued 25' high and 336' long G-O2® Living Wall transforms the prosaic walls and garage entrances leading to the network of underground roadways and loading docks. The living wall plantings were designed in a staggered, horizontal grid to complement the 9/11 Memorial across Liberty Street.

Liberty’s Park G-O2® Living Wall offers a touch of earth amid a concrete jungle – and what better place to provide a piece of serenity and enhance the environment. A living green wall grows in Lower Manhattan and the resiliency of New Yorkers continues…

Yahoo! for Going Greener with G-O2® Green Walls

Yahoo! is committed to being an environmentally responsible company, and the addition of a G-O2® Living Wall is just one leafy example.

Yahoo!'s newest data center uses 40% less energy and 95% less water than conventional facilities. The air-cooled building is based on an unlikely design: the chicken coop - known as the Yahoo! Commuting Coop (Y!CC).

Yahoo! incorporated a G-O2® Living Wall into their utility space because they were interested in increasing their “green” presence. They felt the gorgeous new building for their call center in upstate New York would be a perfect spot. Not only would the living wall provide them the “green” exposure they desired, they also felt it would greatly contribute to the aesthetic beauty of their new Y!CC Facility.

Independence Blue Cross (IBC) underwent a 5-year complete building modernization and also gave its outdoor plaza space a “green face-lift” by installing two exterior 18’ tall G-O2® Living Walls!

The green walls span 32' and provide a splendid visual contrast to the Trespa panel accent wall. Serpentine tiered seating extends from the wall and allows visitors to appreciate the living wall plantings up close.

IBC added life and beauty to its outdoor plaza, which provides a visual statement of the company’s commitment to sustainability. Building occupants now have verdant views to the lush living walls below, and plaza visitors can take a refreshing break outside in an inviting and welcoming space.

NYC's Largest Interior Living Wall

One block from the Freedom Tower, Plant Connection installed a 32′ x 60′ interior G-O2® Living Wall. PCI’s green wall designer, Sabrina Buttitta, BSLA, designed an “organic tapestry” of plants to balance the magnitude of the 23-story corporate atrium.

The 1,920 SF living wall is home to 11,673 plants and contains a 12-zone irrigation system. Studies have shown that buildings strategically placing and promoting access to vegetation have been documented as having a greater positive human health impact than those without. This living wall adds to the list of metropolitan areas with green walls that are greatly impacting the urban landscape.

In 2013, the 23-Story Atrium Living Wall project won two awards at PIA (Plantscape Industry Alliance). It won the Award of Excellence and the Judge's Choice Award for top overall project.

PCI Unveils Largest Living Wall in Baltimore

Click for Full Size View

On September 28, 2012, a more than two thousand square-foot exterior G-O2® Living Wall was unveiled on the building façade of One East Pratt Street in Baltimore, making it the largest living wall in Maryland.

The G-O2® Living Wall has some important features that will help advance the success of living architecture, including the use of a unique, cutting edge, remote monitoring system. This technology was first installed in another very large iconic living wall in Pittsburgh during a complete overhaul in May of 2012 that included an upgraded G-O2® Living Wall system, irrigation system, and state-of-the-art remote monitoring sensors provided by Plant Connection, Inc.

This valuable data recorded in two of the largest exterior living walls in the United States will be studied and used to help inform and further advance the greater green wall industry as a whole.
